The Difference Between Traditional, Conical and Gantry Slipform Supply in Construction
The construction industry is constantly growing and coming up with new and innovative methods to create newer and improved structures. Traditional slipforming consists of creating a premade formwork skeleton and then outpouring concrete continuously and in levels using different equipment. Below are a few main slipforming techniques that construction companies use to create stable structures:
Traditional slipforming is the oldest and the most conventional slipforming used. It uses hydraulic jacks among other equipment to raise structures in levels. It is mainly used in building high rise buildings, domes, towers and other tall structures. Construction companies may need to use different cranes while constructing using traditional slipform supply to lift beams, jacks and other concrete and construction material in this method.
The conical slipforming method is a developed version of traditional slipforming. The way this method works is nearly the same as the traditional variant. The main difference in this technique is the change in the length of the cross section diameter, with the variation depending on the height of the structure being constructed. The change in the cross section is what results in getting the conical shape of the constructed structure.
The thickness of the wall constructed depends on many factors along with the cross sections. Some of these are:

- The material used in construction
- The size of the cone
The structures that are built using conical slipforming as a construction method are chimneys, smoke outlets in factories, and even some forms of towers.
A gantry is a bridge shaped structure that houses a platform. Gantry slipform supply construction uses a gantry to build and support many different construction equipments. Gantry slipform replaced the traditional slipforming method in the construction of various objects and structures. It reduced the popularity of the traditional method in the construction of many high rise buildings, caissons, bridges, and more, all of which used the traditional slipforming method.
The gantry slipform method was developed as the more economical option. It does not require any dismantling and reassembling during construction and it does not need to use cranes as much either. It is also safer and more convenient for workers because there is more space for them to move around and to store equipment.
There are many different types of construction methods that vary on the type of the structure that is being built. Keeping in mind the various aspects of construction, construction companies can select the best one that fits in their model.
