The advantages of using concrete slipform
Slipform is a the name given to the mould in which liquid concrete is poured, which moves continuously in order to harden the concrete. This technique of concrete hardening is used for construction, from apartments to sky scrapers, and roads to bridges. Different firms follow different methods of construction, but using slipform in the construction process is common among most. This method has a wide range of advantages, hence any construction project can hugely benefit from using this method!
Easy to set up
It is very easy to set up – the concrete foundation is prepared, place inside and the construction process can start immediately. The liquid concrete hardens continuously, hence allowing maximum efficiency and wasting a minimal amount of time.
Increases the construction pace
The speed of construction increases at a surprising rate, as various elements can be re used without causing any major delays or affecting the construction schedule.
Only initial setup required
Since it is a continuous process, there is no need for setting up each time. This prevents any sort of time wastage and ensures the construction process goes along at full speed! Also the initial setting up process is fairly simple, and does not need to be repeated constantly.
Good quality finish
Slipform construction allows a superior quality concrete finish, since there are no form fins to clean up. This allows surface treatments to be easily applied to the work platform.
Very safe
The basic setup process is very safe, and it provides a good working environment. The work area remains unchanged; no climbing or excessive physical labor is required. Also since slipforms only climb in small boosts, thus they are always connected to the structure under construction. This ensures that it is never has to leave the structure during climbing, hence ensuring the system is safe.
Easy start and stop process
The initial set up and starting process is very simple. It can also be stopped and restarted at the will of the contractor. Slipform can be suspended whenever required – for small intervals during the day or over the weekend. This also gives the concrete some time to set.
Cost effective
Since the initial setup does not require a crane to reach the work point, it is highly cost effective. Also it does not require too much manual work, hence reducing the physical labor required for the same.
Flexible use
The settings can be modified easily, the handling process is rather simple and it is very compact. This reduces any efforts of heavy lifting! Also since slipform constructions are connected to the structure, they can easily with stand high winds and rain storms. This ensures there is no hindrance in the construction process.
